2012 Boat Show

Well, it seems like it was just the other day we were all rushing around getting ready for the 2011 boat show. Here we are again, a little more organized and significantly more prepared but still rushing around. It always seems like no matter how much you prepare for something there is always something at the last minute you remember that gets you into a panic.
This year should be a great show, with Fort Hood filling back up and the economy here locally doing somewhat OK (in comparison). As long as the weather holds it should be a beautiful January 6th, 7th and 8th. We have invited a new dealer into the show, Sail and Ski out of Austin and  some previous dealers you all may be familiar with to include Marine Outlet of Temple, Marine Land of Waco and Yowell's Boat Yard of Waco and of course us here at Texas Boat World out of Harker Heights. There will be a vast array of every type of boat you could want to look at for use here in Central Texas. There will be several Bass Boat lines, Stern Drive Pleasure and Deck Boats, Several lines of Pontoons, Jet Drive Boats, and True inboards as well. We will have something for everyone here. Not to mention the great deals that will be available only at the show. And to top it all of, our local Credit Union- Texas Partners- will be doing a NO PAYMENT for 90 days at the show only!! How cool is that? You can buy the boat you want in January at a great price and not even start paying for it until its time to put the boat in the water!

Stingray Pleasure Boats

Well, here is another company that just does it right. Stingray boats, a family owned and operated business out of South Carolina that has been building top of the line Pleasure boats since 1979. With a line up consisting of everything from an 18ft Bow Rider all the way up to a 25ft Cabin Cruiser, Stingray can fit the need of just about every pleasure boater out there. Again performance out of every boat in their line up stands out above the crowd. Even in their entry level model, the 185 standard with either a 3.0 volvo or 3.0 Mercury. Either motor you go is going to get a top end around 49mph and more then enough torque to get any skier out of the water. That is exceptional performance out an 18 in a half foot boat with 135hp. You can credit that kind of performance to their Z Plane Hull design. That design dramatically reduces drag and reduces air bubbles in the water below the boat allowing for the prop to “grab” the water better therefore increasing speed and fuel efficiency.

There is so much to be proud of when owning a Stingray boat and without experiencing the ride and performance of one for yourself, you may find it hard to believe all the hype. Lets talk Triton boats.

           If you're looking for a good bass boat there are many things to consider when looking at the many lines out there. Some boast speed, some ride, fishablity and some stick with just having the cheapest line up out there. It's very rare that you find a company that has a balance of all the above. But there is one company out there that does just that. Triton Boats, founded by Earl Bentz, and they do a great job of efficiently combining everything a fisherman (or woman) is looking for out of a tournament style bass boat.
           Earl Bentz has been in the boating business since the mid 60's and since has developed or had a hand in developing several styles and lines of boats, ending with Triton Boats. Triton was founded in Tennessee in 1996 by Earl Bentz and has since been sold to Fish Holdings and is now located in Flippin Arkansas along with Ranger Boats (founded by Forrest L. Woods) and Stratos Boats (Founded by Earl Bentz). Triton manufactures more then just bass boats however. They also have a walleye, hybrid and bay boat line up. For now we are just going to talk about their Bass Boat line.
          Earl, with a history in racing boats has always wanted his boats to perform well. Todays Triton's are a far cry from what the bass boat world was back in the late 60's and even through most of the 70's. Back then, you had a 15 or 16ft boat that had a 50hp motor. Now the smallest of Triton's line up is their 17ft Explorer series capable of handling a 115hp, and range all they way up to their 21ft HP and XS design holding up to 300hp! Unlike alot of competitors out there when you look at a 17 or 20ft Triton, you are getting that and more. All Triton's are at least the ft length plus 6 inches (except the HP hull, its is even on the length in ft) and in some cases even more.
       I wont get into the specifics on exactly how the boat is put together right now (I will in another post), but I will say that with their LLW on the hull, transom and stringers that they know what they are doing. They us no wood in the boat at all, a zero flex stringer system and foam flotation that exceeds all Coast Guard standards. Their Dry Chine design, deflects spray from the driver and passenger's and makes for a exceptionally stable boat. From fit to finish I truly believe Triton has earned is place among the top Bass Boat brands out there!
